An Open Letter to LSUCC

On October 17, 2010, I walked into Light of The Soul UCC for the first time. It was a frightening experience for me. A few months earlier, I had been “unfriended” by almost every Christian friend I had - and most of my friends were from church.

I was still agonizing over lost friendships that had been developed over 15 years. I decided at that time that Christ’s love no longer inhabited the Christian church - you, as the LSUCC body, have proven me wrong.

Christ’s love does inhabit the church through people like you who made me feel welcome and even appreciated. I cannot express to you strongly enough the role that you played in my healing over the past year. I didn’t make it easy for you, but you just continued to share Christ’s love with a smile (and a hug when I would allow it). You never pushed, you just knew that in His time, His work would be accomplished -and it was.

God has blessed the LSUCC body with a very unique gift - the gift of corporate healing. People like me come here hurt and ready to give up and you as a community, build them back up. I encourage you to continue to be the same loving people that you have been, knowing that even though you may not hear it, you are making a difference in people’s lives - one on one, one at a time. It’s a beautiful gift and I am honored to now be a part of what God is doing in and through the body of LSUCC.

Thank you and much love,

Kathy Grider
